Mini Vacation

A rare day of dad-with-kids. At dinner time Porter said, "today was like a little vacation!"

The kids got dressed and ready and we were out the door at 7:45.

I honestly didn't know what we were going to do. I brought a map and I decided to head to to the Mohican Forest which the GPS said was an hour away.

We had one rule for the kids:" if you want me to stop somewhere, I'll stop"

We grabbed breakfast at Sunbury (McDonalds).

We then drove through Olive Green, Sparta, and the kids asked to stop at a playground in Butler...

They affectionately called it the "old playground"

We then drove to the Mohican Forest, and stopped randomly at a covered bridge...

We then took a hike through a very rough 2 mile trail, with a jogging stroller holding Cope. It was very scenic and finished at a little water fall...

We returned and went to a camp playground where the kids met a caterpillar and waded in the creek...

We went to find food but decided to followed a sign that said "Castle (this way)". That took us to a hotel on top of a hill. We tried eating there but decided it was too fancy...

We then headed to lunch in Loudenville. Jackson wanted Chinese and they enjoyed their sweet and sour chicken...

We then started heading home. But the same rule applied so we stopped to get ice cream in Mt. Vernon..

Just outside of Mt. Vernon the kids spotted a large playground...

We seriously were heading back but noticed a little city festival in Montego. By little I mean... little. But they had little games, a bouncy thing, free horse rides and a fire hydrant sprinkler (yes dad brought swim trunks just in case). It was down home fun...

We then headed back. Rented Rango. Took baths. Had dinner. Gave Lola a bath. And made popcorn to end the day.
